| "Hurricane" Andrew Larsen |
 |
Born in Tacoma, Washington and a UW graduate, where he studied classical
music and composition, Andrew is sharing his talents by maintaining demanding performances
and teaching schedules.
A talented vocalist as well as an outstanding instrumentalist, Larsen has been sought-after in the
Puget Sound’s rhythm and blues community for several years and has been featured on recordings
by Henry Cooper, Mark DuFresne, Mike Lynch, Jack Cook and The Doug Lynn Band.
Publications reviewing Henry Cooper’s CD 'Slide Man', have raved about Larsen's performance.
New Orleans' October 1999 issues of Offbeat issue proclaims, "The entire band is the real
star of the show, especially Andrew Larsen, who threatens to hijack the album and take it
back home with him." The Washington Bluesletter states, "Andrew Larsen is an expert on
piano... Larsen leans into the organ to build the perfect setting...great boogie piano....
Andrew Larsen breezes in with piano work that leaves you breathless." Noted harp man Mark Hummel
proclaimed "Larsen sounds just like Otis Spann" upon hearing him while performing at a neighboring club
in Seattle's Pioneer Square.
Andrew Larsen is a veteran performer with featured appearances at Bumbershoot, Folklife,
and A Bite of Austin, and has shared the stage with the late William Clarke, the late
Isaac Scott, Little Bill, Jerry Miller and Duffy Bishop. Larsen has performed
professionally in Canada, Texas, Washington, Oregon, California, and Louisiana.
